RE: I'm new to the sport ATV scene need some insight please???

If you want a trail machine that can do everything and like Yamahas I would buy a Raptor 700. Its got plenty of power, great handling and reverse. The power band is very linear, some like it some don't, but that can be changed buy changing pipes and programming on the fuel injection. You can do some MX with one and be very happy especially compared with a Banshee. You'll never have to rejet and while they do require some maintainance it won't be nearly as much as either the Banshee or a Yfz450. The new Yfz is supposed to have fuel injection so that should help reduce maintainance time but it still won't be as good as the Raptor for overall comfort while trail riding IMO. As for speed, stock for stock a Yfz will kill a Banshee in acceleration. The stock Raptor will be about equal to a Yfz, it would depend on the rider.* 1badbanshee- As for feeling as good on the trails, thats kind of subjective to what you are used to. If the trails are really wide open a Banshee is a lot of fun. You won't see many Banshee's doing hare scrambles any more, handling and power characteristics are the reason. *-I said stock for stock you Banshee freaks! Yes, I know you could easily modify yours to go faster.

RE: Obama on taxes

OBS, your data is three years old. Look at the data for last year. Even by your data, those with incomes of $60,000+ paid almost 80% of all income taxes paid. I don't make $60,000/year, do you? If $60,000 denotes the middle class, I am poor. And I am not poor. Plus, you are just using Federal income taxes as a basis, when every dime you and I pay to the government is a tax, whether they call it a tax or not. Who do you think pays the most real estate taxes? The most luxury taxes? The most sales taxes? The highest state income taxes? Who pays the highest tax for vehicle registrations? Use you head for something besides a hat rack! When added all together, those making more than $100,000/year pay 90% of all taxes. And to me, $100,000/year is rich. And your car scenario makes no sense at all, since those buying $100,000 luxury cars pay what amounts to a luxury tax, and I do not on my $15,000 vehicles. Face it, old pal, you are income envious, and have the mind set that the rich get all the favors, when they do NOT. They in fact carry this country's government on their backs. Snake oil is correct. There is no such thing as working poor, because those who would be classified as such get government hand-outs and eat better than I do. I do make over 60, and I consider myself middle class. And if I use other stats it won't make your point more valid. Persons in the top %1 earned %11 of their money as earned income. The rest, who knows. I used 2006 because it was the newest data that the IRS had out in that format. They have some stats on 2007 but not all of them yet. If I had found newer info I would use it but I don't think its changed much since then. Who pays the highest percent of their income into taxes when you consider everything? Not just income. You and I do. If you made $5 million a year and bought a $100,000 car you would have paid about $6,500 in sales tax. If you made $50,000 a year and bought a $10,000 dollar car you would have paid about $650. As a percent of your income you would have paid 10x the amount. So what you are saying is that you should have also paid $6,500 in taxes to "make it fair"?

RE: Obama on taxes

OBS, you need to get some facts up your sleeve instead of the poor tricks from the Liberal media you keep spouting. All of the above tax increases have already been proposed by Obama or some adviser in Obama's campaign. Fact, not media hype, not BS. Crappy economy huh? 1. More Americans are working, and with higher wages, than at anytime in the Clinton administration. Get the numbers, not just the BS you hear on MSNBC. 2. The last time a President interfered in the wages and prices, we had gas shortages and long lines waiting at gas stations, and the crappiest economy of my lifetime - Jimmy Carter. 3. The middle class always takes the biggest hit in tax increases, no matter who is in the White House. Again, look at the numbers, or for that matter look at the taxes you were paying before the Bush tax cuts. D@mn you Liberals have short memories. 4. The people in the highest tax brackets deserve a cut, after all they pay 90% of the taxes. LOOK AT THE NUMBERS, FOOL! Of course, we all know the Liberals like to play with numbers, just enough to make your boys look better than the competition. Wise up! 1. Show me the numbers, more Americans working for higher wages? What about the numbers of the working poor in this country? 2. Jimmy Carter, thirty years ago, how does that correlate to anything now. About as irrelevent as Nixon is now. 3. I don't mind tax cuts when we have a surplus, tax cuts when the government is spending more than anytime in history with record deficits is stupid. We should live within our means. I would rather pay now than pay later with interest. 4. You look at the numbers, the source is the IRS, the top income group paid 38.4%. People making between $152,048 to 403,054 paid 20.4%. And the middle class making $61,055 to 105,958 paid 20%. Those are percents of the total amount paid. As a percent of the individuals total income the middle class pays more than double in taxes as a percent of their income as the top class does. And to you this is fair? It makes as much sense as saying it would be just as fair for you to pay $3600 in taxes on the purchase of a used $10,000 car while a guy buying a new Ferrari should only have to pay $15,000 for his $100,000 car. You paid %36 and he paid %15. If that seems fair you are the fool.

OBS: You are a card carring idiot!Barama is going to raise taxes,do you think that he want? I have some Snakeoil, I want to sell you!You drink the Demo Koolaid, you nut bucket! How was that?Jenkins isn't the only one who says it.My banker ,and all the financial pundits say the same thing,Barama wants your money! Dear A-hole, Unless you've been living in a hole, which apparently you have, you may have notice that the Republicans have buried us in debt. The largest in history. If you may recall the economy did much better under the last Democratic President than our current occupant. McCain intends to continue Bush's policies. Its really pretty simple, if you spend alot someday you will have to pay for it. The Republican "conservatives" did the spending, now we will have to pay. Unless YOU think our grandchildren should have to pay. Since you are just some freeloader who thinks that everyone else should pay for your spending, I can see why you would like McCain. Personally, I believe in personal responsibility, something the Republicans preach but never to themselves. I will vote for Obama. Snake Oil, what an appropriate name for you.

RE: Obama on taxes

INTERESTING DATA JUST RECEIVED ON TAXES Spread the word..... This is something you should be aware of so you don't get blind-sided. This is really going to catch a lot of families off guard. It should make you worry. Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election: CAPITAL GAINS TAX MCCAIN 0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax. OBAMA 28% on profit from ALL home sales How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain in taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will most adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income. DIVIDEND TAX MCCAIN 15% (no change) OBAMA 39.6% How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will be paying nearly 40% of the money earned in taxes if Obama becomes President. The experts predict that 'higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit. INCOME TAX MCCAIN (no changes) Single making 30K - tax $4,500 Single making 50K - tax $12,500 Single making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 60K- tax $9,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250 OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts) Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Under Obama your taxes will more than double! How does this affect you? No explanationneeded. This is pretty straight forward. INHERITANCE TAX MCCAIN 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax) OBAMA Restore the inheritance tax to it's full Pre-Bush amounts. How does this affect you? Many families have lost businesses, farms and ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only see them lost to these taxes. NEW TAXES BEING PROPOSED BY OBAMA * New Federal Personal Property taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet * New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) * New taxes on natural resources (energy) consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) * New taxes on retirement accounts, up to 26% of your entire retirement fund will go for taxes when you take it out of you IRA or 401K. * New tax on mileage you put on your vehicles on an annual basis. Persons using their road vehicles more than 8,000 miles per year will pay double the standard rate, proposed now at $0.125/mile. and last but not least.... * New income taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries (IE: LOUSY medicine)!!! Add these all up and you will see the average Americans' standard of living drop by about 12%. Thank You, Robert D. Jenkins Vice President - Investments Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor Wachovia Securities, LLC Is that the same Robert D. Jenkins who has been one of McCains biggest campaign contributers? This info, for the most part is bogus. When our taxes go up, and they will after the Republicans created the largest deficit in US history. You can only be sure of two things: 1. The middle class will take most of the hit. 2. Under McCain not only will the average guy take a hit, but the people in the highest tax brackets will take a cut. Which we will also have to pay for. Trickle down economics, its worked so well the last 8 years and McCain wants to "hold the course" as Georgie would say.

Top Three Sport Quads?

What are your favorites? And if you could have any one you wanted free what would they be. As for me: 1. Ktm 525xc- Buy skidplates, nerfs and wrap around handguards and you could be competitive at any hare scramble. 2. CanAm Ds450xc- New model, comes completely ready to woods race complete with skids, nerfs, tether, and handguards stock. The only thing it needs is more bottom end power. 3. Raptor 700- Good quad for almost any situation except pure motocross, which I rarely do anyway. Would require than a couple of grand to be set up properly for what I like to use it for. Which would make the KTM and DS450 better deals IMO.

Who is Baramas? And we'll all be lucky is McCain doesn't win. You like how things are going in this country? Vote McCain, stay the course."Old But Slow".....the name says it all, must be a flaming liberal! You would have to be a complete nut to put Nancy Pelosi in charge of this nation.Barama is a talking head with nothing but"marijuana" experience.Bin Ladin has his new weapon,"Hussein" Obama!MC CAin is a real American patriot, not some scum bag concieved on a Mau beach.Barama has to many faults(racism) to be my candidate:R. You are just another sheep conned by fat hypocrite Rush. You sound just like all the people here during the last election, who were so sold on putting Bush back in office, I know he is the President but he can't complete a sentence. Nothing will change with McCain, I agree that he deserves some respect for what he did in Vietnam. But that says NOTHING about what kind of a leader he will be. Him backing down on his stance against torturing POW's in Guantanimo after what he went through himself, says a lot to me. He is the ultimate in "flip-flopping".

RE: HELP Oil Leak

I would bet on it being a rubber O-ring that goes around the journals. Not that it matters because to replace them you still need to take the head off the machine. Have you ever considered doing it yourself? If you have a good manual and a decent set of tools it isn't a hard procedure. And from what you will learn you will be able to save yourself a lot of $$$ down the road too. Its an air cooled motor so it will only have a medium degree of difficulty. If you know a friend that has some experience to help you it shouldn't take more than one Saturday, around $80 in parts, and maybe a pizza and a few cans of your friends favorite beverage to complete. Its just something to think about.

RE: need help deciding on sport quad

Another case of "Fido barks the numbers" i.e. "tell me what I want to hear". You are 6'1' and 275 lbs, and looking for your first quad, the worst thing you could get is any 450. Buy something with torque and that is easy to control, 450's are high strung and while they are the most agile they are also the easiest to lose control of. Its like starting flying lessons in an F-16, not a good idea.

RE: 2 stroke dilemma!

Yes, it will get thicker, and yes if you run it like that you could very well gum everything up. I worked on chain saws for 13 years and have seen it happen many times. I would remove the tank and slosh the fuel around to mix the fuel and oil together because after a long period of time they can seperate. Then drain the tank and refill it with fresh mixed gas and a couple of ounces of Seafoam. As long as you don't run it and fill your carb will the old gas it might be okay. By the time you go through a half gallon or so you will know whether you will need to clean the carb and reeds.

RE: need help deciding on sport quad

Used, Raptor 660, Kfx700, or Bombardier DS650. New, Raptor 700, Honda 700X, Polaris 525 Outlaw IRS or S, or a KTM 525Xc All of these bikes have smooth powerbands that should be easy for you to control. Just start out slow and on small jumps until you learn how each one handles. Look for used bikes that are in good shape where the driver is 30+ and the bike is nearly completely stock. You can pick up a really nice used bike like the ones I have mentioned for $3000 or less. I ride with some pretty big boys, one that weighs as much as you. He likes to jump and has broken 400Ex, Z400, and a 500 Predator frames so far. He has an Ltr450 Suzuki now and so far its held up. Don't buy a pre-2005 Z400 without gusseting the frame, they were notorious for breaking. If you don't ride alot of tight trails I would go for the DS650. They have a ton of power and fit bigger riders well. If you want reverse and don't like to shift buy a Kfx700. If you want something lighter that you can shift and has reverse get the Raptor, just be aware that you might want to widen it as some people find them tippy in tight trails. Good Luck!

RE: King Quad up grade

As you may be able to tell from the former members of Cynics Anonymous you can't get more power from those parts, Snake. I think what would really make you happy is a good clutch kit. While a clutch kit cannot add power, it can distribute the power to where you need it most. Since you are already considering wheels and tires you must have a specific purpose in mind for your wheeler. If you want to use your quad for primarily mud you will want a certain clutch setup, probably more bottom end. If you like fast trail riding and tight trails you would probably want more midrange power. A clutch kit can do either of these, but probably not both so make sure you know what you want before you start ordering parts. Then call the manufacturer and they should be able to set you up. If they can't, order from someone else.

I was thinking of going there, I have been to Little sahara in Ok and it was a blast. Tell me what you think of it when you get back please. As for pointers I don't have many because that was my first time, the one pointer I do have is to protect your camera. Sand will easily get into it and destroy it so make sure you have a sand-proof case if you take one along. And drink alot of water before you hammer the beers or you will regret it the next day. You will get more dehydrated than you think you are and if you drink alcohol first you will be a sore s.o.b. the next day.
